FashionNewsWatch Savage Beauty: the movieMissing the V&A’s sell-out Alexander McQueen show already? Reminisce with this behind-the-scenes footageShareLink copied ✔️August 7, 2015FashionNewsTextTed Stansfield After 21 weeks, the V&A has closed the doors to the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition. Attracting over 493,034 visitors (to be precise), the show shattered the museum’s records and became its most popular paid exhibition of all time. To celebrate its unprecedented success, the V&A have released this video which features behind-the-scenes footage from the show, as well as some impressive stats. “We are absolutely delighted that nearly half a million people have visited the V&A to see Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” said Martin Roth, director of the V&A. “[It] is, I am proud to say, one of the most unpredictable, dramatic and spectacular exhibitions we have ever staged. The response has been phenomenal and has exceeded our expectations in so many ways.” Despite the exhibition’s closure, McQueen is still popping up in the press. Just last week, SHOWstudio released an unseen fashion film featuring some of the designer’s most iconic creations. Earlier this month, Lady Gaga hit the headlines after buying three pairs of the designer’s infamous Armadillo boots at auction, as well as penning an emotional letter for V Magazine explaining why. But you don’t need to worry about where your next fashion exhibition fix is going to come from: London has several blockbuster shows on the way. An exhibition dedicated to Chanel’s history is hitting the Saatchi Gallery in October and, as announced last week, one exploring Louis Vuitton’s AW15 show is opening in October.
