Satan's little helpers: explore the references that inspired the duo's latest collection – from Paris Hilton on 'The Simple Life' to a bloody 'South Park' Christmas
For SS15, the Ammerman Schlösberg girl was a 1950s ska housewife clad in Christmas plaid and gingham. The designers Elizabeth Ammerman and Eric Schlösberg both moved to New York for art school, and started their line – a mix of bondage influences, anime costumes and mall-goth staples – after a chance meeting led them to working together in a boutique. The pair chose a dark and atmospheric hotel room for their SS15 presentation, with a model posing in front of a red curtain like a Lynchian Lolita. Someone may have turned up the lights for this season's lookbook, but the subcultural sensibilities that underpin the collection remain – in the form of a tinsel-wrapped Wiccan pentagram.
We hit up the design duo for the YouTube clips that inspired the collection:
THE SIMPLE LIFE – PARIS AND NICOLE PACKING
THEY SAY:
“Lol, essential farm attire. The milkmaid dress Paris casually pulls out of her closet is everything.”
NO DOUBT – “OI TO THE WORLD”
THEY SAY:
“Only Gwen Stefani could come up with something as cute as a ska Christmas song.”
DEAD OR ALIVE 5 – CHRISTMAS DLC GIRL WIN/LOSE POSES
THEY SAY:
“A serious Dead or Alive costume moment. We're just going to be honest, we like her panting on the ice.”
THEY SAY:
“Christmas used to be so much cuter.”
THEY SAY:
“Satan's little helpers.”
THEY SAY:
“Our favourite South Park episode ever.”
