As trans people continue to fight prejudice and make inroads in film, music and fashion, they can be sure of one thing: Naomi Campbell is on their side. At the 2014 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles this weekend, the supermodel came out firmly in support of trans people in the fashion industry, especially on the runway. "I encourage even more diversity in the fashion world, and that includes welcoming trans models to the runways," Campbell said, before giving a shout-out to Givenchy muse Lea T and ex-RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Carmen Carrera, who most recently appeared in the Barneys campaign, which cast 17 transgender models. 

"The truth is, LGBT culture and fashion go hand in hand," Campbell continued. "They flourish in light of making bold and brave statements."
