FashionShowDonna Karan AW14A celebration of house codes for the label's 30th birthday means draping and lots of skinShareLink copied ✔️February 11, 2014FashionShowTextDazed DigitalPhotographyLea ColomboDonna Karan New York AW14 Initial reaction: What did you expect for the 30th birthday of the Donna Karan label? Glamour, draping, silk, and a lot of bronzed leg. Model behaviour: Malaika Firth in a slate grey, halter neck draped gown, split to the thigh and belted loosely at the waist with a long black patent strap. Karlie Kloss in a dramatic blood red swimsuit with ballgown drapes that billowed from her neck to her gladiator strap heels. How they wore it: With glossed, side swept hair, and a sweep of liquid silver eye shadow. Baker boy caps were topped with what appeared to be a mop of glossy hair, like a lustrous plume of feathers. Cruella de Vil: Furs had that femme-fatale finish: a white fur coat which draped around the neck and finished in a skirt of feathers, and a black glossy fur wrap coat with tufts of long white fur sprouting randomly from cuffs and collar. Sheer ambition: If there weren’t thigh high splits, there were sheer panels, revealing acres of glowing skin on the décolletage, arms and a torso – a full length sheer gown had just a painterly sweep of velvet maintaining the minimalist of modesty.
