That was the inspiration for Miharayasuhiro this season, but it wasn't punk as we know it in the west – here there was no sneering or bondage trousers, instead a tough, menacing gangster vibe in black and grey monotone, embroidery and snakeskin, crocodile and Japanese pattern. Shirts were overdecorated with gold, shoes featured polished metal toe caps and jackets and coats heavy with knitted boas. A punk statement by the designer, styled by Robbie Spencer, was showing outside in freezing weather at the Palais Royal, metres from his Paris pop-up store (until January 25th, see the gallery below). We were given blankets and hand warming gel packs to the sound of traditional drumming.
