Mikio Sakabe and Jenny Fax studio visit

As a pendant to Nicola Formichetti's full-on fashion in the #Fantasia issue, we set out, guided by the superstylist, to meet some of the most exciting Tokyo design talent of the moment. Mikio Sakabe and Shueh Jen Fang are husband and wife with their own labels, Mikio Sakabe and Jenny Fax.

Dazed Digital: Can you tell us when you launched your label?
Mikio Sakabe: I am Japanese and have spent time in London, Paris, Antwerp. Now I'm back in Tokyo.

DD: Who wears your clothes? 
Mikio Sakabe: I guess mainly young customers.
 
DD: What's your most famous design?
Mikio Sakabe: Denpagumi costume.

DD: What are your hopes for the future?
Mikio Sakabe: To have a Mikio Sakabe and Jenny Fax fashion show every season. And a Dazed & Confused cover!

DD: What's your favourite thing about Nicola Formichetti?
Mikio Sakabe: Everything.

Dazed Digital: Can you tell us when you launched your label?
Shueh Jen Fang: I'm Taiwanese born, studied at ESMOD Paris and La Cambre Bruxelles. I launched Mikio Sakabe with Mikio in 2006. In 2010 I launched my own label, Jenny Fax.

DD: Who wears your clothes?
Shueh Jen Fang: All the girls who want to.

DD: What's your most famous design?
Shueh Jen Fang: I won't know until I die. People are always reminded what's good after the person dies.

DD: What's the best moment in your career so far?
Shueh Jen Fang: It's yet to come, I hope!

DD: What are your hopes for the future?
Shueh Jen Fang: If you hope, it won't come true.

DD: What's your favourite thing about Nicola Formichetti?
Shueh Jen Fang: He likes Hello Kitty as well.
