ITS 2012

International Talent Support, or ITS, takes place in Trieste, Italy, every year as a platform for creative minds supporting young talent. Divided into four competitions; fashion, accessories, jewellery and photography, a panel of industry insiders whittle down applicants to winners. This season, Dazed & Confused's senior fashion editor Robbie Spencer took his place on the jury alongside Diesel president Renzo Rosso; artist Marina Abramovic, Style Bubble's Susie Lau and designers Shaun Samson, Aitor Throup and Mark Fast – previous winners and finalist respectively. Spencer gives Dazed Digital his highlights from this year's summit...

Fashion Collection of the Year: Ichiro Suzuki
"Ichiro demonstrated a fantastic ability to create intricate two-dimensional detailing on classic menswear tailoring, I am very excited to see what he will achieve in his next collection he presents next year at ITS. The look he created out of denim was incredible, the lazer cut brocaded T-shirt and trousers looked really impressive up close, and felt like a new technique I have not seen applied before to denim."

Fashion Special Prize (Fashion): Luke Brooks
"We have been a fan of Luke Brooks here at Dazed since we saw this collection the CSM MA show earlier this year, I really like his politically fuelled, art driven point of view of fashion. It's refreshing to see someone using found and recycled materials in an extremely considered way to create the garments, I particularly liked the denim outfits, which had the slogan 'I HATE DENIM' embroidered all over it. I like his use of irony and playful dalliance into the world of fashion and art."

Modateca Award (Fashion): Shengwei Wang
"I thought Shengwei Wang demonstrated a refreshing modern approach to knitwear, every look was hand made using a fusion of chain mail and mohair in different patterns. I have never seen this technique before and it felt truly new and exciting for knitwear that could easily be re-worked into a more commercial collection, as well as evolved into a catwalk collection showing in her own right going forward. The fusion of wool and metal was really modern, and very beautiful. Everyone in the jury liked it, so much so one of ITS longest running jury members Deanna Ferretti funded and created a knitwear award especially for her. She is extremely talented, and I'm sure seh'll have an exciting career in design ahead of her, either designing under her own name or working for an established fashion house."

Accessories Collection of the Year: Ana Rajcevic
"LCF accessories graduate Ana's Rajcevic's horn-like animalistic headpieces were extremely beautiful and also slightly disturbing. The level or craft and simplicity really made them stand out amongst the other accessory submissions, I can't wait to shoot them for something soon!"
