Every day is Halloween here at Dazed Beauty HQ, but today the rest of the world also celebrates the best and spookiest of days. To mark the occasion this year, Lisa Michalik has done an All Hallows’ Eve shoot that brings together all your favourite creepy characters and gives them a glamorous transformation.
“I’ve always loved villains, much more complex and interesting,” says Michalik, who was art director and grillz-maker for the shoot. Along with co-art director Silk Motyl, Michalik took classic Halloween archetypes from the common imagination – vampires, nymphs, elves and demons – and created beauty looks to match including nails and grillz. On make-up was Mantis Lepretre, Quentin Lafforgue created the wigs, and Motyl did the nails as well as modelling the looks.
Huge Halloween fans, Michalik and Motyl say their favourite thing about the day is being able to transform and embody any character they want. “We can be whoever we want without worrying about what others think.”
If you’re still looking for some last-minute inspiration for your costume this year, the pair say a good Halloween look is all about a killing detail and something that isn’t too obvious. “Some surprising and humorous references, because the best looks are the funniest!”
