Besides gracing the cover of Dazed last month and perpetually delaying her album drop, Rihanna has kept busy running her beauty empire. Earlier this month, the pop star announced a new Fenty Beauty collab with Riot Games – making over the characters of its upcoming Netflix show, Arcane; and in July, she released a Rihanna-scented Fenty fragrance and teased a line of Fenty hair care products.

In a mini tutorial on her Instagram stories, RiRi has put a bright red spin on TikTok’s viral reverse cat eye make-up look – which she has been known to work (work, work, work) from time to time. 

To jog your memory, the reverse cat eye is a twist on the classic cat eye make-up look which features dark eyeliner smudged out from the lower lash line into a wing in the outer and inner corners of the eye. Spotted on celebrities like Kim Kardashian,  Kristen Stewart, and Charli XCX, the look is easy to recreate – only requiring pencil liner and a brush to smudge it out to your desired level of drama.

Sharing her secrets to the trend, Rihanna uses Fenty Beauty’s Flypencil Longwear Pencil Eyeliner in the shade Cherry Punk, applying the product to her lower lash line and waterline before extending the liner towards her inner corner. On her outer corner, she draws a subtle line on her upper lash line and wings it out.

The rest of Rih’s make-up is understated – topping off the look she wears brown eyeshadow, sleek eyebrows, mascara, and glossy lips. Perhaps some inspo for our next holiday party?
