Our favourite bug-eyed, takeaway coffee drinking, cigarette dragging twins are officially back in the fragrance business. Under their luxury label, The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are releasing a new series of scents – this time, in the form of hand-blended aromatic oils. Titled R, O, and W, the fragrances were crafted in collaboration with artisan perfumer Haley Alexander van Oosten (known for her exclusive botanical oil company, L’Oeil du Vert). “We started wearing her oils, and the idea of creating something together was a natural progression of our relationship,” Ashley told The Wall Street Journal, also explaining that the scents took four years to develop together. According to Oosten, the trio of unisex oils are based in a special type of sandalwood which had been “sealed” for over 20 years. “Ashley and Mary-Kate’s appreciation of sandalwood coupled with its innate refinement, comfort, and familiarity quickly made it the raw material of our focus,” she told The Wall Street Journal. Each oil, however, adds a different experience to its base: R is joined by fresh tobacco leaves, burnt esfand seeds, and rose; O includes water lily, olibanum, and orris; and W with amber, champa, and incense woods. Further, R is meant to create a “warm embrace”, O “offers the power to envision”, and W provides “its uplifting support to expand”. Sadly – in true Olsen twin style – the oils will be very hard to reach. So far, the trio will be available in limited quantities at The Row’s London, New York, and Los Angeles flatships, with each 7ml oil retailing between $490 and $550. Check out the collection here.
