This time, Mexican rap and reggaeton artist Dan Sur has surgically implanted chains into his scalp, which – according to him – marks “the first rapper to have gold hair implanted in human history”. Sharing his intentions to appear “straight out of a jewellery store”, the rapper’s new look features chin-length gold chains in different weights and various diamond-encrusted strands. Very casual! “The truth is that I wanted to do something different because I see that everyone dyes their hair.” he shared in a TikTok. “I hope not everyone copies me now.” Since revealing the body modification in April, Sur’s TikTok followers have grown from 12,000 to 2 million. Answering our biggest questions – the musician revealed the look’s surgical process in a TikTok. He explained: “I have it as a hook that is implanted in my head and that hook has hooks and they are all hooked in my skull, under my skin.” Beauty is pain, we guess. While Sur hasn’t mentioned his inspiration for the look, it’s safe to say he could be taking a nod from Lil Uzi Vert. In February, Lil Uzi Vert revealed a $24 million pink diamond forehead implant – installed so that he could “have a lot of M’s in (his) face”. However, while crowd surfing at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival, the 11 carat diamond was torn out by fans. “I jumped into the crowd and they kind of ripped it out,” he said. Elsewhere, Post Malone debuted a sparkling set of 44 carat diamond vampire fangs for £1.1 million in June. According to celebrity dentist Thomas Connelly who installed the grills, “he’s now got two functional, full diamond teeth.” We’ll be waiting to see what comes next.
