Everything you need to know about the 10-piece collection and most importantly, does it work?
Skincare lines are the new celebrity fragrance. Everyone has one, from Alicia Keys and Millie Bobby Brown, to Pharrell Williams and Kylie Jenner, with influencers branching into the beauty scene with products too.
The latest comes from influencer Emma Chamberlain, who was recently announced as creative director and global brand ambassador for Bad Habit, a colourful new skincare brand. Described as a “hybrid skin-care wellness brand”, it’s designed for stressed-out skin, with Chamberlain focusing the 10-piece collection for Gen Z and millennials dealing with acne, a condition that the influencer has been open about experiencing on her social media.
Boasting more than 12 million Instagram followers and nearly 10 million YouTube subscribers, much of the new range, available now on Morphe (and owned by its parent company Forma Brands), is already sold out, but I was keen to put it through its paces. It’s broken down into two categories; daily skincare essentials with two cleansers and two moisturisers, and targeted quick-fix treatments that include a face oil, hyaluronic acid face mask, charcoal mask, face mist, AHA/enzyme peel, and hand cream.
Stressed-out skin is the most apt description I could use for myself. Whether it’s dealing with constant outbreaks of hormonal acne, congestion and added spots from dreaded maskne, or tackling dry, flaky skin on my cheeks, there’s little keeping my complexion happy in lockdown. For a week I used nothing but products from the Bad Habit range. Firstly, the packaging is fun, sturdy and smartly done, decorated with bold font and easy-to-read ingredients lists, with the colour of each packaging correlating with the product it contains.
Everything is under £30 and richly infused with essential oils so it’s naturally very fragrant, and there’s an excessive use of colour, that makes no difference in performance but is extremely Instagram-friendly. As I’m prone to sensitivity, I was wary that my skin may be irritated by the combination of colour and fragrance. While a week certainly isn’t long enough to fully be able to judge how my skin reacted to using the products, I can share all the nitty-gritty details of how they felt on the skin and any changes I saw while using them.

Bad Habit – Wake Things Up Matcha & Mint Daily Cleanser
As green as a ripe avocado, this cleanser boasts a lovely creamy consistency that’s perfect for your morning cleanse. When massaged into the skin with wet hands it creates a light lather that isn't too foamy and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. Enriched with matcha green tea, aloe vera, mint, and neroli essential oils, it has a refreshing, invigorating scent that’s the perfect pick-me-up for fatigued WFH mornings. It leaves behind no residue and is a gentle, inoffensive cleanser that’s priced at the lower end of the range, and every skin type could enjoy it without any irritation.
Verdict: A great introduction to the range, this is a fuss-free creamy cleanser that will keep you feeling clean and refreshed.

Bad Habit – Omzzz Acai Cleansing Balm
If you wear make-up, cleansing balms are brilliant at removing every scrap of make-up and well worth investing in. On first impressions, the bright violet shade of this one is a little alarming, I used a 10p size amount and massaged into dry skin. It takes a few seconds to meltdown into an oil which breaks down make-up but it’s rich, luxurious, and a real treat. It did take more time to get the bulk of waterproof mascara off, the most stubborn make-up product, and I had to go back over lashes with an eye make-up remover to ensure it didn’t leave me looking like a panda in the morning, so keep that in mind if you’re a fan of long-wearing products.
Verdict: I’m not entirely convinced, but it does remove your make-up as promised.

Bad Habit – Daily Dose Multivitamin Moisturiser
I love the pump mechanism on this, simply press down and it releases the perfect amount of product for one application. It’s so much more hygienic than putting your hand in a pot and ensures you don’t overapply and end up looking greasy. This is a gel-cream hybrid texture that was comforting on my combination skin; it didn’t leave me looking greasy on my T-zone, nor did it exacerbate dryness on my cheeks. Instead, it was smoothing, softening, and a little goes a long way, so I can foresee this lasting a long time. Containing niacinamide, red rice extract, mandarin, and ginger essential oil, it’s fragrant but not overpowering. Don’t be put off by the bright yellow colour either, it disappears into a dewy glow.
Verdict: This Pritt-stick style bottle is perfect for an everyday moisturiser that will keep skin hydrated, supple, and soft.

Bad Habit – Power Sleep Melatonin & Glycolic Night Cream
Packed with actives, namely glycolic and hyaluronic acid, this is a very rich, luxurious feeling cream that drier skin types will want to slather on. It’s a great way to introduce exfoliating acids into your skincare if you’re new to them, without overdoing it. While my dry cheeks sapped up the welcome moisture boost, oilier areas on my nose, chin, and forehead did look and feel pretty shiny afterwards, which I typically want to avoid for fear of looking like an oil slick. That said, it wasn’t heavy nor greasy and the scent of lavender and chamomile, while often divisive, was a sleep-inducing fragrance to enjoy before bedtime.
Verdict: Perhaps one to avoid if you have oily skin, but dry skin will love this creamy, comforting moisturiser.

Bad Habit – Total Reboot AHA/BHA Enzyme Peel
When I first applied this to my skin, there was an instant tingling sensation, which the packaging says is normal. It eventually subsided and wasn’t uncomfortable to wear for the recommended 10-20 minutes. It’s a mix of pineapple and papaya fruit enzymes and bamboo powder which makes the texture a tad grainy, but it wasn’t abrasive nor did it affect sensitive areas on our skin and it dries down to a sand-like texture. It’s easy to rinse off with a few splashes of warm water and it had an immediate calming effect on my skin, with areas of spots looking a little clear and overall my complexion looked brighter.
Verdict: Quite literally a quick fix, this weekly treatment is perfect for a quick burst of brighter skin.

Bad Habit – Silent Mode Hydrating Hyaluronic Mask
Typically hyaluronic masks are moisturisers masquerading as a mask and are entirely unnecessary in your routine. However this thick, blue cream, rich in blue green algae, lavender, and neroli, was instantly cooling on intensely dry areas on my cheeks and after a few days I saw flaky texture decrease and sensitivity die down, so I’ll definitely be reaching for it again. I can’t lie, the baby blue colour is so satisfying to look at too, and will be making an appearance on my Instagram. While I left it on for 10 minutes before rinsing off, it can be worn overnight too for an intensive moisture-boosting effect, so if you don’t mind your pillow getting a bit wet, give it a go.
Verdict: Creamy, comfortable with fast-acting results, this is essentially a more intense moisturiser but great if you’re struggling with dehydration.

Bad Habit – Dewd Hemp Nourishing Facial Oil
I was very impressed with this oil that has an immediate softening effect on skin, and the big, sturdy bottle comes with a pipette that picks up plenty of product. It’s bright green in colour, isn’t sticky nor will leave you looking greasy but is fast-absorbing, so combination and dry skin types will love this. It’s a fragrant blend of turmeric, liquorice, lavender, geranium, and basil that gave me a dewy, fresh from-a-facial glow. Typically oils can be disruptive under make-up, but when I used a small amount in the morning, it made for a lovely soft and supple base. It doesn’t scrimp on product either, with a hefty bottle that’ll last ages. I also tried adding it into my foundation for a sheer, glowy finish and it mixed well, without separating once.
Verdict: Not greasy or sticky in the slightest, this is my new go-to for an instant radiant glow.

Bad Habit – 10-Minute Rehab Green Juice Charcoal Detox Mask
This is your typical charcoal mask that goes on wet and dries onto the skin, I left it on for 10 minutes then gently rinsed it off. Initially, there’s a tingly, cooling sensation on first contact with skin, that was a little uncomfortable on sensitive areas of my cheeks, but it eventually died down. I’d recommend splashing face with water first to dissolve the hardened dry layer, then removing with a warm, wet flannel. There was a huge reduction in redness, skin felt smooth and looked clearer without leaving a dryness remaining and my face felt fresh and rejuvenated after. The tube keeps it more hygienic too and for easy application, I’d recommend using a flat mask brush to ensure an even, thin layer is applied.
Verdict: Taking the top spot, this face mask makes the world of difference to dull, lacklustre skin. This is definitely becoming a permanent part of my routine.
