When they were younger, they wanted to grow up to be a mermaid.... they’re still working on it. Here, they share their choice for Product of the Week – a weekly round-up of the Dazed Beauty team and wider community’s must-have buys. WHAT IS IT? Brand: Byredo Makeup Product: Sciomancer 5 Colours eyeshadow palette Price: £56 Byredo WHY SHOULD I CARE? I’m like a make-up magpie, if I see anything sparkly and pretty, I’m sold. So, when Byredo Makeup launched back in October, I was desperate to get my hands on all of it. If you’re not familiar with the brand, it’s a collboration between Byredo’s creative director Ben Gorham and make-up icon Isamaya Ffrench. Along with your regular mascara and lipstick offerings, the brand’s experimental hero is the Colour Stick – a cream-based stick of colour, to be used wherever you see fit. Following the launch of brand, it announced another drop: the 5 Colour Eyeshadow compact. I tossed aside my Colour Stick (it is still brilliant, FYI), for this shiny new toy. A palette truly like no other, the compact is a beautiful golden shell, slightly battered so your reflection is like that of a carnival’s funhouse mirror. The compact comes in three colourways – Sciomancer, Corporate Colours, and Syren – and upon opening the treasure, you’re presented with 5 shades of eyeshadow. My favourite is Sciomancer – designed in homage to Yves Tumour – with its offering including ‘Ginger Hussy’, ‘Electric Love’, ‘Blue Marionette’, ‘Karma’, and ‘Silver Gutter’ – all beautifully iridescent and easily applied with a swipe of your finger. The mirror inside the compact is perfect for admiring your handiwork while giving you the air of a lady who lunches. I’d recommend this to anybody bad and boujie who wants all eyes on them, both the punchy colours and precious golden shell are impossible to ignore. QUICKFIRE QUESTIONS It sounds like.... anything by Grimes or Arca. Who would use it... Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She’s got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty, but this would be the prize possesion of her grotto. If it was an astrological sign it would be… Cancer. The crab is just dying for an upgrade to its shell. If you had to describe it using only emojis... ✨👽🐚 Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday. Privacy policy Thank you.
