The next day, all that everyone could talk about – no, not the startingly lack of talk around LGBTQ+ issues – was the fly that seemed to take permanent residence on Pence’s head. Next, of course, came the memes, but now, the fly (that’s Lord of the Flies to you peasant) has been immortalised in the form of a hair accessory. Created by New York-based designer Melitta Baumeister, the cute hair pin urges you to VOTE on the upcoming US election on November 3. At $19 (£15), the proceeds from sales of the pin will go to The League of Women Voters of the United States. “LWV works year-round to make sure all eligible Americans – especially first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, communities of colour, and low-income Americans – have the opportunity to register and vote,” reads a post on the designer’s Instagram account. “It is up to everyone to take part in creating the future we want.” If you’re based in the US and eligible to vote, find out more info here.
