Do we really need make-up for our bodies? The internet reacts
Kim Kardashian has revealed the latest products coming to her beauty brand KKW Beauty: body make-up.
The Body Collection will consist of three make-up products for your body – a foundation, a powder and a shimmer – plus a brush to apply them with. Making the announcement on social media, the reality star said she had been working on the formulas for over a year. “I’m so happy with how creamy and blendable they all are. You can layer the formulas together or use them individually to achieve how much coverage and shimmer you want,” she wrote.
Kim also revealed that she herself is an avid user of body make-up. “I’ve used it for years to cover my psoriasis! The brand I used to use only had 2 shades and got discontinued so I am so excited for everyone to try this.”
The new collection is garnering mixed reactions on social media, however. While many are excited about the products:
I have acne scarring and discoloration on my body that I am self conscious of anytime I am wearing an something revealing. They idea of being able to use a light foundation on my body is amazing to me. And i think could it help a lot of people feel better about their skin.

Actually , it is needed, i bruise very easily and if i have a photoshoot or a video shoot i have to look good so body foundation is a must...thats actually smart on kims part because special effects make up artist can use that to create looks....

Others have expressed concern about the message that body foundation will send to people – that our bodies are not good enough as they are and need correcting.
Body foundation just seems excessive. I’m all for shimmer and glitter but colour/tone correction? Is this just going to exacerbate the pressure women already feel to make themselves look airbrushed ALL THE TIME? 🤔

In my mind it’s just bound to get people more insecure abut scars or just discolouration etc, I don’t think professional makeup artists are her key target audience (she’ll probs just give them free samples for reviews+hype)more like vulnerable teens trying to look more like her

There were also questions about about how practical make-up for your body actually is...
Body foundation? That’s interesting does it stain clothes at all?

Hopefully it’s like Vita Liberata... their formula is perfection it makes the skin look flawless except it transfers onto EVERYTHING 🙄 so hopefully yours doesn’t transfer

And people taking issue with the small range of shades (seven) available.
7 shades. You’re asking to be dragged.

This is a joke, right? You got all that money and you come out with 7 shades? SEVEN?! How is that inclusive? pic.twitter.com/URTb2rAsy2

Anything that helps those who are self-conscious about their bodies feel more confident is a good thing in our books, however, we believe that bodies are great the way they are – scars, discolouration and all – and no one needs foundation to cover that up.
