An introduction to field recording

Latvian composer Andrejs Eigus makes beautiful, calming sounds using natural field recordings

Welcome to the Dazed Beauty Digital Spa, a space where you can come to escape the stresses of everyday life. From ASMR to chanting, in this section, we'll be hosting a series of interactive podcasts that explore the role of sound in wellness.

Andrejs Eigus is a composer and producer from Latvia. He combines instruments - analogue and electronic - with natural field recordings - a walk in the forest, the sound of the sea - to create his own unique sounding music. It’s a beautiful mix of sounds - natural and produced - one that creates a calming environment, enabling him and his listeners to relax and de-stress.

One of the pieces of music which we’re going to listen to is called The Cranes, The Lighthouse, The Plane and The Wolf. It’s got Andrejs’s signature sound - the light and shade, the craft, the atmosphere. Here he talks us through how it came about.
