And while that big gloomy cloud is this morning’s news that Britain has voted to leave the European Union, the silver lining is Lindsay Lohan who – for reasons unbeknown to us – decided to live-tweet the event. The Mean Girls actor was quite well-versed in the nuances of the debate, drawing our attention to the perils a Brexit win might incur. “good luck with the pound.. will take you about 15 years to get it back up #REMAIN instead,” she tweeted in the early hours of the morning, somewhat prophetically. (The British pound has dropped to a 30-year low several hours later.) Her enthusiasm peaked when the results came in from the Shetlands – “i love the #shetlands @BBCNews thank goodness we have pure hearted people our side #besmart #ShetlandsVSSunderland #BringItOn,” she tweeted. Taken aback by her previously unknown interest in and knowledge of British politics, some people wondered whether Lohan’s Twitter account had in fact been hacked. But she quickly laid these rumours to rest – “#remain #REMAIN @standardnews #remain#REMAIN @Telegraph unlike OBAMA's recent setback @BBCWorld i have not been hacked.” To top it all off, the actress responded to a tweet by the Daily Mail, calling the journalist a “lazy cow” – “@DailyMailCeleb @DailyMailUK i am actually against BREXIT i am for #REMAIN so get your facts straight you lazy cow.” Unfortunately, Lohan has since deleted this tweet, along with the rest of those pertaining to the EU referendum.
