Many are terrified about the prospect of Britain leaving the EU and what it could mean for our future – consequently, they’re devoting their energies to creating work that sends a clear message – #voteremain is the only option. Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin are both artists based in London. Scared by the prospect of a life outside of the EU, they’ve designed t-shirts bearing the slogan “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, a nod to the classic song written by Frank Loessner in the 1940s. “My family escaped Europe before the holocaust,” says Broomberg. “I grew up in Africa, I learnt to be an artist in Italy and I’ve lived in England for 20 years. I feel at home in the world.” Tension is running high as both the #voteleave and #voteremain campaigns move into first gear, with midnight tonight the last opportunity to register to vote. We hooked up with Broomberg and Chanarin and sent their t-shirts – made by Rapanui – to members of the Dazed family who want to make their voices heard and help convince young voters that a #voteremain is the right choice. Wolfgang Tillmans, who created pro-Remain posters and recently penned an essay for Dazed passionately encouraging the UK to stay in the EU, also sent some t-shirts our way. Here are our models below, showing off their t-shirts and sending a cute reminder that it might just be cold out there.
