Arts+Culture / NewsFKA twigs directs VHS-style shortThe avant-pop singer creates a short film backstage at her latest fashion shootShareLink copied ✔️April 15, 2016Arts+CultureNewsTextTed Stansfield FKA twigs is a woman of many talents – this we know. As well as being a multi award-winning singer-songwriter, she’s a producer, dancer and director. She’s recently directed her the music videos for her EP M3LL155X and, in collaboration with Calvin Klein, the video for her latest single “Good to Love” which was premiered earlier this year. Now, she’s debuted her latest filmic endeavour. Filmed backstage at her cover shoot for the May issue of Allure magazine, the two-minute short features shots of the star having her hair and make-up done and pulling vogue-like poses for the camera, dressed in a crocheted dress by Alexander McQueen. It also features slightly abstract close-ups of her face. “I spent years of my early 20s working among performance artists. That’s rule one of being an underground artist: You do your own make-up, hair, and costumes,” twigs tells writer Mary H. K. Choi in an excerpt from the cover story. The release of this film comes just days after the singer gave us a preview of her latest project – a collaboration with experimental producer Oneohtrix Point Never – in a video clip posted to her Instagram account. While she failed to disclose any details about this project, it’ll certainly be one to watch out for. Watch this on The Scene. Escape the algorithm!
