A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR 'THE GODFATHER OF CLICKBAIT'

"Cool article over on The New Yorker about ‘The Godfather of Clickbait’ Vinnie Musetto. He was famous for his punchy newspaper headlines such as ‘HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR,’ ‘500LB SEX MANIAC GOES FREE,’ ‘I SLEPT WITH A TRUMPET,’ and ‘GRANNY EXECUTED IN HER PINK PAJAMAS.” – Liv Siddall, Freelance Writer (@LivSiddall)

YE'S ALBUMS RANKED FROM WORST TO BEST

“An oldie but a goodie. Last week I listened to Yeezus on repeat. And remembered how great it was. Then 808s & Heartbreak (‘fuck this AWESOME’). And then Graduation (‘wait…is this better?’). I could have played and replayed the Kanye discography (six solos, two collabs, 10 years or so) in some futile attempt to rank them, but I wanted to listen to something else. This worst to best rating from Complex really helped settle the panic.” – Natasha Slee, Social Media Assistant (@TashaLouiseS)

FEMALE SCIENTISTS ARE #DISTRACTINGLYSEXY

“The excellently funny LGBT people and general women campaigning on Twitter this week. Firstly the #INeedStraightPrideBecause hashtag turned from a ridiculous campaign asking for a Straight Pride rally because society is 'heterophobic' into hilarious banter from LGBT people and allies who hijacked the hashtag. Have a look, some of the responses are excellent. Something we reported on was the #distractinglysexy twitter retaliation against Tim Hunt, who said that women shouldn't work in science labs with men because they cry all of the time and just fall in love with the male scientists, then cry more about it. This ridiculous perception of women has held us back throughout history, so loads of people started posting pictures of boss bitches under the hashtag #distractinglysexy.” – Helena Horton, Freelance News Writer (@horton_official)

TRANSLATING RAP MUSIC FOR THE DEAF

Amber Gallego decided to prove a friend wrong who told her that music was not for deaf people. She has since interpreted over 300 rap, R&B, and rock concerts working next to music giants like Aerosmith and Destiny’s Child. 'Music meant so much to me, and all I could think was, ‘How can I translate this for them?’ – Camilla Mathis, Production Coordinator (@camillamathis)

THE BARE ESSENTIALS ACCORDING TO VIC MENSA

“Directed by Grant Singer, shot by Frank Mobilio, styled by Lisa Madonna, EP’ed by Kevin Kloeck and edited by Brook Linder, this video has Mensa saying ‘all I need, pussy, money, weed’ which sums up all of our dreams and aspirations in an expertly succinct and acute way. Also, nothing adds more credence to a video than Mr Marmite himself, Kanye. A champion of this gang of auteurs, I have to recommend you keep tabs on all the work that they put out over the coming year.” – Tai Thittichai, Executive Producer, DazedVideo (@basicallyokay)

HISTORY 10: HOW 'CLUELESS' BECAME AN ICONIC 90'S FILM

“Gwyneth Paltrow nearly played Cher? Buffy nearly got cast as Amber?? JOSH NEARLY PLAYED ELTON???? This amazing oral history on the greatest film of all time will actually make you die of shock. Yes, I said die. Way harsh, Tai.” – Dominique Sisley, Editorial Assistant (@dominiquesisley)

THE POWER OF DAZED COMPELS YOU

"This week, we published a story on Drake wearing an old-school Apple jacket. It was funny, cool, nice news post, but the reason it jumped out was a little code in the URL. It read "25000", which told me it was our twenty-five-thousandth article. A month after I joined Dazed, in November 2012, article number 15000 was set live. And now we're here, a nice round 10,000 articles later.

Serendipity is a nice thing to see in a browser window. I'm stepping down as editor – today is my final day. As an editor, there's two things you pray for – a great team, great stories, and great readers. I've been blessed with both; and am soppily, embarrassing thankful to everyone I've worked alongside for making this the most incredible job I can imagine. I'm also grateful to every artist, musician, designer, thinker and stinker who's made youth culture such a bracingly thrilling thing to cover in these turbulent two years.

So for my final Best Of The Web, there's only one choice: Dazed itself. My fav magazine growing up and the best damn youth culture site out there. It's a vital, essential voice made by a phenomenally hard-working, talented and hilarious bunch of people that I'm missing already. But next week, when that number at the top ticks onto 25,100, I'll be a reader, not an editor. I genuinely can't wait to see what story it will be. I just know it will be great." – Charlie Robin Jones, Digital Editor (@charliexjones)
