Now, in an interview with MTV, Tim Burton has confirmed that he will direct, Birdman's Michael Keaton will return as Beetlejuice and best of all, iconic shoplifter slash screen goddess Winona Ryder has a part too. Ryder played Lydia Deetz, the teenage ghost-seeing goth. Her performance was her first major Hollywood role and catapulted her to stardom. She continued to work with Burton, appearing in the 1990 film Edward Scissorhands two years later. Burton says that it was The Killers who reunited him with Ryder when they worked together on the "Here With Me" video for the band in 2012. "I hadn’t seen her in awhile and she was so great,” Burton said. “I was so happy to see her. So those kinds of elements mean something to me. Michael, and her and that character, I just miss it, there’s some freedom about that character that I love.” While there's no release date yet, rest assured, Beetlejuice 2 is happening.
