For the fourth year in a row, Converse and Dazed are offering a prize of £5000 to one UK artist and £1000 to the selected runners up in our Emerging Artist Award, as well as an opportunity to be part of the award exhibition in Londonewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch.

The esteemed panel of judges headed by Dazed's Visual Arts Editor Francesca Gavin include Institute of Contemporary Arts London curator Matt Williams and First Site curator Michelle Cotton, gallerist Sadie Coles, Turner Prize nominated artist Paul Noble and all-round culture guru, Miranda Sawyer.  They will be joined by Kirsty Ogg whose passion for supporting local, emerging and ambitious artists through her role as curator is well evidenced and, following last year's successful pairing, the prize returns once again arm in arm with Dazed's East London neighbour and Ogg's institution; the Whitechapel Gallery.

Just to add to the sense of anticipation, we have commissioned video artist and animator Daniel Swan to come up with our teaser trailer. Having made videos for MIA and Jam City as well as showing work on Channel 4, he is also is a longtime collaborator with Peckham collective LuckyPDF, two of whom were on our judging panel last year. Swan's half-built online or virtual exhibition invites you to fill in the gaps. Between the frames, structures, ferns, Macs, rigs and Go-pros, he incorporates image-making technologies within an unfinished exhibition: complete with a bass rumble soundtrack.

Previous winners including Gabrielle Beverage in 2011 has since seen all her work bought by the Saatchi Gallery whilst Richard Parry was commissioned at Venice Biennale, and Levack and Lewandowski saw three shows and performances in 2013.
