Pio Abad, Leslie Kulesh, Myles Painter and Samara Scott are the last ones standing, but only one of them can walk away with the £6,000 cash prize. The four upcoming artists were selected by our esteemed jury panel, featuring artists Jeremy Deller and Kirsty Ogg, gallery owner Magnus Edensvard, The Times art critic Nancy Durrant, James Early and Yuri Pattison from LuckyPDF, and Dazed's visual art editor Francesca Gavin. The winner will be announced at an award ceremony at the Whitechapel Gallery on October 24, 2012. There was a great spread between the digital and physical realms. We really felt that all four artists together would make a great show in its own right and each would stand out as individuals "We chose two women and two men. Their work reflected the breath of emerging art - sculpture, installation, video. There was a great spread between the digital and physical realms. We really felt that all four artists together would make a great show in its own right and each would stand out as individuals. I think the show is going to be an amazing opportunity to see how these artists are pushing their work - Samara Scott unique take on the handmade and installation, Leslie Kulesh post-Internet performance work and videos, Pio Abad's slick approach to space and sculpture, and Myles Painter's fascinating film works. We are picking and announcing the winner on the day of the opening - I can't wait to see the results," Dazed's Francesca Gavin says about the shortlist.
