It’s been 25 years since Somerset House transformed into a world-leading arts destination and cultural hub, and to mark the occasion it’s opening up the studios of some of the city’s leading creatives, in collaboration with Dazed. As part of an exclusive new event series, aptly titled Inside the Studios, visitors will even get a chance to meet Somerset House Studios residents who are blazing a trail in their respective disciplines, including cutting-edge artists, designers, and thinkers (paging FKA twigs).

Who exactly will be opening up their personal workspaces, you ask? How about Loverboy designer Charles Jeffrey, or the multidisciplinary director Akinola Davies Jr. Or, elsewhere, a limited number of guests will be able to peek inside the studios of artist Tai Shani, artist and filmmaker Jenkin Van Zyl, and the poet-slash-artist Tyreis Holder.

In case that’s not enough, each event will kick off with a behind-the-scenes tour of Somerset House Studios, followed by a Q&A where Dazed writers and editors – including Halima Jibril, Emma Davidson, Elliot Hoste, Ashleigh Kane, and Jack Sunnucks – will help break down what each artist is currently working on, how they got started, and where they’re headed next. Guests will also get time to socialise and network over refreshments in Somerset House’s Snooker Room.

Needless to say, this is not an opportunity you want to miss. The series will kick off with Inside the Studios: Akinola Davies Jr, hosted by Halima Jibril on Wednesday May 28, running from 5pm-6pm. Sign up for your chance to attend here, and learn more about the upcoming dates below.
