Marina Abramović has spent decades plunging the fathoms-deep magnitude of her heart, confronting demons, and pushing herself to the physical and emotional limits of human endurance and beyond. This week, Serpentine Galleries are hosting a Zoom event in which the pioneering performance artist will be in conversation with their director, Hans Ulrich Obrist. Abramović has a long-standing relationship with the Serpentine, where she staged her 2014 durational piece “512 Hours” – a demanding work which involved the artist performing for eight hours a day, six days a week for 11 weeks, and received 129,916 visitors. In 2019, Serpentine Galleries also became the site of Abramović’s “The Life”, the world’s first “mixed reality” performance, created with Tin Drum’s Todd Eckert (who will also be joining the conversation).
