How to be a part of GAP and Dazed’s new initiative for young visual artists

We’re calling on emerging and undiscovered artists of all kinds

2020 has changed life as we once knew it, and visual artists are duly responding to some of the most urgent issues we face. From artist and publisher Theo White’s 6FT magazine, grown from the hardships of a global lockdown, to Alima Lee’s online film festival, which uplifts and celebrates queer Black voices, there has never been a better moment to reflect on and review the world around us through art.

To follow suit, GAP and Dazed have partnered for an exciting new initiative. New Gen GAP champions the diverse experiences and practices of young visual artists, and provides an opportunity to have a voice on the issues that are important to them.

We are looking for emerging visual artists from UK and France to submit existing work that responds to – and reflects on – the question:

How is your world changing post-2020? We want to see your unique and hopeful visions.

The Dazed team will choose a selection of submitted work to be showcased across Dazed’s Instagram stories and Gap UK and Gap France’s social channels between Monday 24th August 2020 and Sunday 13th September 2020. In w/c 28th September 2020, six finalists will be announced as the founding members of New Gen GAP. Each of the six artists will then be commissioned £1000/€1000 to create a new series of work that will be profiled on Dazed Digital (between October and November 2020).

Entrants must be based in UK or France
