While “2019” is pretty vague, it does provide some assurance that a new album is on its way. In a cover story for Vogue, published back in May, the singer suggested she wanted to make a reggae album, so maybe that gives some pointers as to what we can expect (or maybe not, tbh we’re just guessing). Although fans are pretty desperate to hear a new album from Rih – her last, Anti, came out in 2016 – she has a pretty good range of excuses for the delay. In September, her Savage x Fenty label debuted at NYFW, she’s been working on Fenty Beauty, and she plays a couple with Donald Glover (jealous) in the trailer for a new film, Guava Island, by Hiro Murai.
