In the last week alone she’s closed NYFW with her first Savage x Fenty show (where Slick Woods simultaneously walked and went into labour), held her fourth annual Diamond Ball (with a performance from Childish Gambino), and, on Friday, made a surprise appearance to celebrate Fenty Beauty’s first birthday. While the glamorous Diamond Ball – a charity event for Rih’s Clara Lionel Foundation – was hosted by Insecure’s Issa Rae and saw appearances from comedian Seth Meyers, Tiffany Haddish, and Paris Hilton, the singer/designer’s arrival at Sephora in Brooklyn’s JCPenney for Fenty Beauty’s birthday was a slightly more low-key affair. Shortly after announcing the surprise appearance from the back of her car on the way to the event, she stepped out in a bright pink Calvin Klein gown, taking centre stage and taking selfies with her fans. Ok, so not very low-key, but it’s about as reserved as a public celebration featuring Rihanna is going to get, isn’t it? Escape the algorithm!
