The “Needed Me” singer – who has already secured roles in Luc Besson’s upcoming Valerian, as well as the latest season of Bates Motel – was confirmed as a cast member earlier today (August 10). She will reportedly be joined by Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, and New York rapper Awkwafina. “It’s a really good script,” Bonham Carter told Entertainment Weekly back in June. “It’s a great script, and it’s great for women. Just hilarious.” According to reports in the Hollywood Reporter, the 2017 revival will be directed by Gary Ross (of The Hunger Games fame). However, unlike the 1960 and 2001 versions, the cast will only consist of eight women, rather than the full 11. Obviously this is a bit of a bizarre choice given all the incredible actresses they could have chosen, but let’s just presume – for our health and happiness – that the producers have a good reason for it. Production on Oceans Ocho is set to begin in October this year. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
