Over the last 12 months, the “BBHMM” singer has torn off tongues, sliced off limbs, and blown multiple brains out – all in the name of music video entertainment. And now, as if all that wasn’t enough, she’s announced her involvement in one of the most brutal horror projects of all time. According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Riri will be taking on the iconic role of Marion Crane in A&E’s Bates Motel, the serialised prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 film, Psycho. The role – which was initially made famous by Janet Leigh and that shower scene – will reportedly be revived by Rihanna for the show’s final season. “We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way,” executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in a statement. “We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.” Rihanna will be taking on the role in season five of the show, which will apparently be broadcast at the beginning ot 2017. The episodes will cover the events of the original film, while also tying in some of its own original material. “Season five is about the ways in which our show does and more specifically does not intersect with the events of Psycho," Cuse said after season four’s finale. “It will cross paths with some of the events in the movie and lead to an ultimate resolution. What that resolution is and how that plays out is something that will be not disconnected to the movie Psycho but will be very much our own story in the same way the entire series has been.” Escape the algorithm!
