DJ Obi of the Nigerian hip-hop label Syndik8 Records set up shop in a Lagos café on June 22, finishing up on July 2 with 240 hours clocked up. He beat out the previous record set in 2014 by Polish DJ Norbert Selmaj, who played for 200 hours in Dublin. According to rules from the Guinness World Records organisation, he had to have someone dancing at all times, no song could be played twice within 4 hours and he was allowed 5 minute toilet breaks hourly and a one 2-hour break each day. Obi was also allowed massages and vitamins to keep himself going. He told the BBC about the severe sleep deprivation he endured, and the affect it had on his body. Obi said: “I woke up hallucinating after 4 or 5 days and had lost full control of my body…I used the loss my father as an inspiration, constantly thinking to myself that my Dad was watching me and would be disappointed if I failed.” Think we're all in agreement here anyway: DJ Obi is king of the sesh.
