MusicNewsDrake to curate music for Sotheby's art showHe's creating the soundtrack for an exhibition of black artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kara WalkerShareLink copied ✔️March 23, 2015MusicNewsTextZing Tsjeng In what is totally not a ploy to attract hip young and/or rich art collectors, Sotheby's is recruiting Drake for an exhibition of black contemporary artists. The art brokers has tapped the If You're Reading This It's Too Late rapper to curate the soundtrack for its new show in New York this April. The aim of the show is to "explore the dialogue between music and art", with pieces by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Glenn Ligon, Kara Walker and Kehinde Wiley on show. Viewers will be able to listen to Drake-curated picks for each artwork, which will be played on Beats OVO headphones (obviously) at listening stations around the gallery. Sotheby's calls Drake one of this generation's "foremost cultural tastemakers", which is kind of hard to disagree with when you've seen the Nothing Was The Same artwork. The show opens on April 12 and runs until June 12. Watch Jungle, Drake's 14-minute short film below: Liked this?
