Seana Gavin's brightly spaced-out collages capture the acid-drenched mood of the zeitgeist. Evocative of everything from George Pal's 1960 vision of HG Wells's Time Machine to Ridley Scott's Blade Runner via Svankmeyer's Alice, Anger's Inauguration Of The Pleasure Dome, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and a heavy dose of the 90s rave culture, they have all the impact of a particularly heady psychotropic dose. Dazed Digital: What do you enjoy about the medium of collage?
Seana Gavin: The immediacy. The ability to experiment with compositions and imagery. I enjoy reinventing by placing objects in an alien context and environment.

DD: How do you usually approach a piece of work?
SG: Sometimes I’ll do a quick sketch then I will start collecting interesting and inspiring imagery. It's very important that I get into a calm and receptive frame of mind.

DD: Your work all about?
SG: Surreal landscapes inspired by nature, travel, psychedelic drug experiences and spirituality – places I’ve seen both in dreams and waking reality.

DD: The one piece of work you wish you'd created?
SG: Gaudi’s Guell Park in Barcelona

DD: The world coming to?
SG: There are many predictions about the end of the world in 2012. But I think it will most likely be the end of the world as we know it, which I hope will bring a positive transformation.

DD: The best piece of advice you've ever heard?
SG: Your thoughts can manifest into reality.

DD: The most important thing for an artist to remember?
SG: How important it is to just create.

DD: The most inspiring thing you've ever seen?
SG: Nature regularly amazes me. Recently, I visited ‘Lydford Gorge’ in Devon, which was one of the most stunning places I have ever seen. It felt so primitive and tropical, I half expected dinosaurs to be roaming around!

DD: The cleverest thing you've ever done?
SG: Leaving a dance floor five minutes before a shooting took place where I had been standing.

DD: The stupidest thing you've ever done?
SG: I’ve done too many stupid things in my youth, too stupid to repeat! But they have made me who I am today.

DD: Next?
SG: I am currently working on a collage that I am contributing to a permanent collection of work inspired by Soho at ‘Dean Street Town House’ (a new hotel and bar from Soho House Group). it will be exhibited alongside works by several artists including Tracey Emin, Peter Blake, Mark Titchner etcetera...
