Well, prepare to feel depressed because it turns out the 19-year-old TikTok star earned an estimated $5 million last year. This revelation comes as part of Forbes’ first ever list of the highest earning TikTokers, each of whom earned over $1 million in just 12 months. Easterling’s wealth – though sparked by her rise to fame on TikTok – can be attributed to her role as the global spokesperson for clothing brand American Eagle, her weekly Spotify playlist with her mum, called Mama Knows Best, and her upcoming make-up line. Second on the list is 16-year-old Charli D’Amelio – a member of the Hype House, along with Easterling – who earned an estimated $4 million last year. As well as posting dance videos to her 78 million followers, D’Amelio has partnered with EOS cosmetics, featured in a Super Bowl commercial, and is set to become the face of Hollister with her sister Dixie D’Amelio. Keeping it in the family, Dixie is next up on the list, earning $2.9 million. The 18-year-old has 33 million TikTok followers, recently released her first ever single, “Be Happy”, and – as well as Hollister – has signed a joint deal with Charli with make-up brand Morphe. 18-year-old singer Loren Gray Beech is fourth on the list, earning $2.6 million last year. In recent years, Beech has signed with Virgin Records and released eight singles, acquired 46 million TikTok followers, and landed sponcon deals with Sketchers, Hyundai, Burger King, and Revlon. Coming in at number five is 18-year-old Josh Richards, who has 21 million followers on TikTok and earned an estimated $1.5 million. Richards has done sponsorship deals with Reebok and HouseParty, signed a song-making deal with Warner Records, and co-founded his own talent management company, TalentX, and his own drink business, Ani Energy. Michael Le is number six, earning $1.2 million. The 20-year-old TikTok star has 32 million followers on TikTok, and a years-long sponcon deal with Bang energy drinks. 28-year-old Spencer X is joint sixth on the list, also earning $1.2 million. He has sponsorship deals with Uno, Oreo, and Sony. Last week (August 7), Donald Trump signed an executive order effectively banning TikTok in the US, meaning users have just 42 days left to use the app. The order bans US transactions with the Chinese-owned app – due to privacy concerns – meaning companies like Apple and Google won’t be able to host the video sharing platform for downloads. As expected, the order is already facing legal challenges. On Sunday (August 9), it was revealed that TikTok is set to sue the Trump administration as early as tomorrow (August 11), asserting that the ban is unconstitutional because it gave the company no chance to respond. TBC what will happen next, but given their earnings, it looks like TikToks biggest stars will probably be OK. Escape the algorithm!
