But where to start? Activist and recent graduate Toni Adeyemi has created an AR filter that helps you decide which Black Lives Matter-related charity to donate to. Called BLM – Donate Now, the filter works in a similar way to those “Which ‘X’ are you?” spin-the-die style filters, only it’s for a good cause. “Even I didn't know which donation to pick, which places I should be donating to, because you see broken up lists everywhere,” Adeyemi told Insider. “I was like ‘Hey, why don’t I make it super easy so that no one can say they didn’t know where to donate?’” “The best way I would describe it is decision fatigue,” she added. The filter directs people towards organisations, charities, and movements that are committed to fighting racial inequality and justice reform, such as National Bail Fund, Reclaim the Block, and Campaign Zero. Since its debut on June 1, it’s amassed over 2.5 million impressions, and the numbers continue to grow. Adeyemi has also launched a corresponding challenge, where users tag five friends, donate to their selected charity, and post the receipt (“it’s time for proof,” said Adeyemi). Think of it like the Run 5, Donate 5 challenge, only the money’s going directly to the charities that need it, instead of, well, Richard Branson. Check it out below. Escape the algorithm!
