Standon Festival in Hertfordshire is set to descend upon us this August 6th, with Casiokids, These New Puritans, Fool's Gold, and Greco-Roman Soundsystem gracing the stages. London-based bands like Wild Palms and DJ Stopmakingme will also make appearances whilst Filthy Dukes will be hosting a Kill 'Em All stage. We speak to headliner Etienne de Crecy and present an exclusive mix from electronic duo Silver Columns as we wait in anticipation.

Dazed Digital: How do you feel about the French Touch scene? What does it mean to you?

Etienne de Crecy: Sure I'm a part of the French Touch! It's not a choice. I started making electronic music in the early 90s in France - that makes me belong to the French Touch - It's not about music, it's about history and geography!

DD: You've been doing it for a long time, so how do you think your music has progressed or changed over the years?
Etienne de Crecy: I was doing music for everybody till 2001 now I'm doing music to be played at high volume in clubs! I'm trying to do the music that makes DJs' jobs easier!

DD: Is your 'Superdiscount' alias going to resurface?
Etienne de Crecy: We have a French proverb: 'jamais deux sans trois'.

DD: What are you listening to at the moment?
Etienne de Crecy: Right now, Talking Heads.

DD: What inspires you?
Etienne de Crecy: The noise!

DD: What's next?
Etienne de Crecy: The Cube 2.0 then The Superdiscount 3!

Beats 'N Cubes show is in the UK exclusively at Standon Calling Festival this summer from 6-8 August in Hertfordshire
