Their loyal fans, affectionately known as ‘Blinks’, number in the tens of millions – and it turns out that one of them is Swiss art critic Hans Ulrich Obrist. The unlikely pair found themselves going head-to-head in the new cover story for AnOther magazine’s autumn 2025 issue, in which Obrist describes himself as a “long time” fan of the K-pop superstar’s work. The conversation ranged from Lisa’s early musical influences (namely: Beyoncé, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Britney Spears), how the girl group went through various names – including Magnum and Pink Punk – before ultimately settling on Blackpink, and how Lisa was ‘shocked and surprised’ at the group’s global popularity at their debut Coachella performance in 2019. But one answer above all might arrive as a surprise to dedicated fans of Lisa’s work. “I’d love to collaborate with Charli xcx, she’s amazing,” responded Lisa when Obrist asked who she’d most like to work with in future. “I’d also like to experiment with some new genres that I haven’t yet tried, perhaps collaborating with EDM DJs. I would love to do that.” The collaboration might actually be closer than you think. In 2019, Brat superstar Charli locked in with fellow K-pop record-breakers BTS for the song “Dream Glow”, which was featured on the original soundtrack for BTS mobile game BTS World. The track was reportedly recorded in 2017 while Charli was in Korea for a festival performance, during which she met up with the boy group. Sonically, the track sits between both of their worlds, with Charli delivering a playful adlib-laden verse in the song’s first half, before BTS members Jin, Jimin and Jungkook sing in Korean. Elsewhere in Lisa’s AnOther cover interview, she also shares: “I’d love to do some more acting. It’s a world I’d like to learn more about.” The announcement follows Lisa’s appearance in the third season of HBO black drama The White Lotus earlier this year.
