Oasis might have dominated in the 90s era of adidas tracksuits and mod haircuts, but that didn’t stop Gen Z fans participating in the throwback trends at London’s Wembley Stadium last weekend, many of whom were seeing the band perform for the first time. “It felt like I had woken up and it was 1995 all over again,” sums up photographer Jeanie Jean, who captured fans outside of the venue on Saturday night (July 26).

Arriving 16 years after the fiery Britpop band dissolved in 2009, Oasis’ Live ‘25 tour is set to be one of the most highly anticipated and profitable tours in British history, with fans projected to spend upwards of a billion pounds across the 17 gig dates in the UK and Ireland. And, indeed, spirits were high as over 12,500 Oasis fans descended on north London last weekend. “It was really lovely to witness people of all ages in the crowd all laughing and singing along to the classics even before the doors opened,” says Jean. “There were kids, teens, Gen Z, Millennials and people who were lucky enough to see them for the first time in the 90s.”

While Jean adds that many of the younger attendees appeared to have been introduced to Oasis through their parents, these new-gen fans made the Gallagher’s distinctively British look their own. “It was a stunning salute to British Cool,” recalls Jean. “There were many, many hats, but I also saw gorgeous parkas, sharp mod cuts, the iconic sunglasses and of course the logo tees and loose jeans. Hats and parkers have always been a huge part of UK street fashion – from the 60s mods to 80s rave culture – but Liam made it striking.”

Still, it was the striking camaraderie between attendees that formed Jean’s prevailing memory of the experience. “When I took some of the group snaps there were people having a laugh and chatting like they’d known each other for decades, even though they only just met on the day,” she explains.

Despite the fact that Oasis frontmen Noel and Liam Gallagher still struggle to get along three decades after the band’s formation in 1991 (with the duo apparently insisting on separate sound checks throughout the Live ‘25 tour), it’s nice to see they can bring other people together, at least.
