Every year, millions around the world tune in for El Clásico, the name given to any match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
To mark the occasion in recent years, Spotify – FC Barcelona’s main shirt sponsor since 2022 – has removed its logo and handed over space on the front of the jersey to some of the world’s biggest artists from Rosalia to the Rolling Stones, bridging together the worlds of football, music and fashion.
This time around, they teamed up with none other than Travis Scott, with FC Barcelona’s players wearing a version of the iconic blaugrana jersey adorned with his Cactus Jack logo during their huge 4-3 win against their arch rivals in a league title-deciding game.
And while debate for who holds the crown as the best rapper might be up for debate, there’s no denying Travis’ ability to create a moment when it comes to collaboration – with the Houston-born artist taking his moment with FC Barcelona to the next level. The partnership includes a full-blown merch collection ranging from scarfs to hoodies to mark the occasion, plus a secret show at the city’s industrial heritage site Tres Xemeneies.
The exclusive gig, which took place the night before the big match, saw the likes of footballing legends Thierry Henry and Edgar Davids in attendance, alongside some of Travis’ top Spotify listeners in the city – who were personally invited by the streaming platform to witness him perform hits such as “FE!N” and “Butterfly Effect” in the capital of Catalonia for the very first time.
We sent local photographer and Dazed Club member Carla Deltoro to speak to some of Travis’ most hardcore fans at the show and get their thoughts.
