G. Cook is the Brits’ producer of the year. The news follows a rather viral year for the pioneering producer, who also received the Best Remixed Recording award for his remix of Charli xcx’s “Von Dutch” at the Grammys earlier this month. In 2024, A.G. Cook served as a key producer on Charli xcx’s phenomenally successful Brat, and released his third solo studio album, Britpop, which was listed as one of Dazed’s best albums of the year. Speaking ahead of the Brits ceremony, Cook took the opportunity to dedicate the award to late star SOPHIE. “As someone who’s always felt like a bit of an outsider, I’m very flattered to be recognised by The Brits. From the early PC Music days to the Charli mixtapes and beyond, I’ve been lucky to work on so much music that I truly believe in,” said Cook. “In particular, I’d like to dedicate this moment to SOPHIE, whose vision and artistry is still a driving force for producers everywhere.” Cook’s early 2010s collaborations with SOPHIE, as well as PC Music signees Danny L Harle, Hannah Diamond, and GFOTY, are widely regarded as a foundation of the hyperpop genre. Since then, he has gone on to work with Beyoncé, Oklou, Caroline Polachek, Troye Sivan and countless others. The BRIT Awards 2025 takes place this Saturday (March 1), broadcast live from 8:15PM. Each winner will collect a trophy designed by acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist Gabriel Moses. Read more about how A. G. Cook’s PC Music label defined a generation of pop music here.
