The announcement also revealed a star-studded list of guest features, including Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FKJ and Kali Uchis. Set to an as-of-yet-unreleased expansive pop track in which the New Zealand-raised South Korean star sings “in the dark I grew” and “money cannot buy no real friends”, the 30-second teaser trailer casts the BLACKPINK member in newly-unveiled red hair as the names of the guest features appear beside her. The video then proceeds to hint at a series of sci-fi settings for the project, with Jennie briefly appearing in armour and wielding a sword, and later wearing a futuristic laurel leaf crown. MARCH 7TH.Pre-Order Now: https://t.co/Lsnbof3WsLpic.twitter.com/Wq8ZlzwKcg— JENNIE (@jennierubyjane) January 22, 2025 The debut album will include 15 tracks, including Jennie’s recently released single “Mantra”, which already stands at a quarter-of-a-billion streams. The project seemingly takes its name from Jennie’s middle name Ruby. Jennie had previously teased the record in interviews and social media posts. In another teaser posted on Christmas Day, 2024, the singer said: “My album is going to sound very different. My next single is going to sound very different from ‘Mantra’, I feel like every step is going to be different.” “My hope with my album is that the world gets to see Jennie and her music as it is. Like, I wouldn’t even be mad if you hate it,” she continues in the video posted on her own website. “There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. It’s like a buffet for you guys.” Jennie’s solo debut follows Rosé’s Rosie, released in December last year, as well as Lisa’s Alter Ego, which is set to release next month (February 28). Ruby will release on Jennie’s own Odd Atelier label, following previous news that the BLACKPINK members will not be renewing their solo contracts with YG Entertainment.
