FKA Twigs Eusexua announcement trailerMusicNewsFKA Twigs releases mysterious new video on ‘eusexua’You know there’s an ointment for that?ShareLink copied ✔️September 4, 2024MusicNewsTextSolomon Pace-McCarrick What is eusexua? “Eusexua is the feeling that I’m that bitch,” offers make-up artist Joe Brooks in the announcement trailer for FKA Twigs’ new album eusexua, which is directed by boyfriend Jordan Hemingway and replete with members of her creative inner circle. “Right before an orgasm,” suggests model Amelia Gray, while multimedia artist Parma Ham explains it feels “like you’ve just reached your destination.” Also present to offer up definitions for the nebulous concept are paraplegic pole dancer Andrew Gregory (“eusexua is trust in your body”), New York-based performer No Bra (“express myself better, create something without using the generally available language”) and American DJ and performance artist Chadd Curry (“eusexua is oxygen”). The word appears to have been coined by Twigs herself, and derived from the prefix ‘eu-’, Ancient Greek for ‘well’ or ‘good’ (e.g. ‘euphoria’), and suffix ‘-sexua’, which probably doesn’t need explaining. Together, the word suggests an almost orgasmic transcendence, achieved through sex or otherwise. This concept is complemented by shots of couple Rosario and Enantios Dromos kissing in the trailer, as well as the breakbeat soundtrack which interpolates ‘eusexua’ as a vocal sample. FKA twigs herself first teased the album back in January of this year in a string of Discord posts, in which she explained that eusexua was born amid a newfound love for techno after relocating to Prague “a couple of summers ago.” The album follows twigs‘ award-winning 2022 release Caprisongs and was telegraphed just days before with a video of twigs self-skulleting, along with the caption “are you ready to discover?” “I’m not ready for the person I will become after listening to this record”, commented one fan on the announcement, to which Twigs responded, “skullet, obvs.” Eusexua is set to release September 13 Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MOREFrost Children answer the dA-Zed quizThe 5 best features from PinkPantheress’ new remix albumZimmermannKindred spirits and psychedelic florals: Zimmermann heads to 70s Sydney Moses Ideka is making pagan synth-folk from the heart of south LondonBehind-the-scenes at Oklou and FKA twigs’ new video shootBjörk calls for the release of musician ‘kidnapped’ by Israeli authorities‘Her dumbest album yet’: Are Swifties turning on Taylor Swift?IB Kamara on branching out into musicEnter the K-Bass: How SCR revolutionised Korean club culture‘Comic Con meets underground rap’: Photos from Eastern Margins’ day festWho are H.LLS?
