Before EvilGiane was making beats for the likes of Kendrick Lamar and PinkPantheress, he was a skater in New York City landing tricks under Manhattan Bridge. In 2018, he and his friends founded the rap collective Surf Gang, known for throwing DIY parties around the city, and now a crew of producers and label home to artists such as John Glacier and Snow Strippers. It was in 2023, however, that things began blowing up for the artist – he received the call for Lamar and Baby Keem’s “The Hillbillies” and produced A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti’s “Our Destiny”. Drake’s an early supporter too.

In the last few months, Giane has continued to make moves with his new mixtape #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1, a record that is bursting with fresh linkups in the form of emerging and underground talent – LA rapper 03Greedo, Atlanta’s Bear1Boss and K$upreme, Slimesito and Drain Gang affiliated producer Woesum, among others. For his exclusive Dazed Mix, Giane shares a “fried” selection of tracks, featuring Brutalismus 3000, DJ Daddy Trance and EARGASM GOD – listen below.

How’s your spring going? Any plans?

EvilGiane: My spring is going well just been travelings a lot. Just tryna be in LA and NY a lot.

What are some of the main inspirations behind #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1.? How did you go about picking your collaborators?

EvilGiane: My inspiration was just tryna make a classic mixtape. It sort of just happened naturally, I was already workin with n****s before all of this. Except for a few heads on the tape.

Your list of production credits is getting kind of wild. What's been the most exciting project to date?

EvilGiane: Most exciting project is EVILSLIME with slimesito.

What’s the vibe like in New York right now musically? Where are your favourite spots/ nights? 

EvilGiane: I honestly can’t tell you that, I havent been there in awhile. My favourite spot at night is my bed fr lmao, but if we are talking clubs it’s definitely Rash in BK.

OK zooming back, what are some of your earliest memories of music?

EvilGiane: Making beats in this trap house my friends was living in.

What would you say are some of your most formative musical experiences?

EvilGiane: Just making beats in the trap lmao.

What’s the worst advice you’ve ever been given?

EvilGiane: I don’t really take advice from people, but I’d say work in food service those people are under appreciated shoutout them.

And the best advice?

EvilGiane: Stop giving a fuck.
