Last week (April 29) saw the iconic opening of Ibiza’s staple Monday after-hours party, CircoLoco at DC10. Born in 1999 and celebrating 25 years as a champion of global underground music, they preserve the soul of Ibiza in an increasingly over-commercialised scene.

As the sun began to set on opening night, the staple neon red of the CircoLoco lights flooded the clouds, illuminating the sky. The energy picked up with a garden warm-up of Skream b2b with burgeoning CircoLoco talents Prospa, followed by a triumphant set by Mochakk. The main rooms saw energy steaming from Chloé Caillet’s return to home court after her irrepressible rise beyond the walls of DC10 this year. Mixed with Keinemusik’s &ME b2b Rampa cementing their longstanding place in the CircoLoco movement with their crisscrossing sonic styles, and CircoLoco veteran Seth Troxler’s intimate knowledge of what makes DC’s dance floor tick, the place felt truly alive.

A cultural melting pot, CircoLoco has a rich fashion legacy. It’s where Riccardo Tisci first heard the Martinez Brothers before booking them to soundtrack Givenchy shows. It’s where Virgil Abloh was so inspired, that he decided to design a capsule collection for the party. 

The 25th anniversary season will see some rare Ibiza showings of eclectic electronic artists known for their fresh sounds and experimental sets, including Joy Orbison, Ben UFO, Eliza Rose, The Ghost, VTSS, Francesco del Garda and Bambounou. They will appear alongside some huge staple names like Peggy Gou, Grimes, The Martinez Brothers, Disclosure, Honey Dijon, Loco Dice and Romy.
