It’s been a wild week for music stans, with Nicki Minaj firing shots at Megan Thee Stallion on her diss track “Bigfoot”, reviving the pair’s ongoing feud, and former US president Donald Trump declaring a ‘Holy War’ on Taylor Swift ahead of the upcoming US election. In more hopeful news, however, stans of SZA and Paramore can rejoice because a collaboration between the two is on its way.

Speaking in a new interview with Apple Music, SZA was asked about her plans to work with Hayley Williams, to which she replied: “Soon! Soon! It’s in the works.” This follows on from an interview Williams gave with Rolling Stone last year, where she said the two have long wanted to work on a track together, especially one that’s “alternative-leaning”.

“I’m such a fan of her voice. And what I love about her voice is that she can easily slide around genre as well,” Williams told Rolling Stone. “Like she has plenty of songs throughout her catalogue that feel very alternative to me and feel a little bit Strokes-y, in a way. She just has that thing.”

“She’s like that person where I feel like we could write any type of song, and it would be cool,” she added. “I would love to hear her on something that we wrote that’s more alternative-leaning, just because I think it would be interesting. We’ve talked back and forth about it for a long time. We both get really caught up in whatever we’re doing at the moment. But I fucking worship her regardless. I just think she’s wonderful.”

Williams also appeared on the Black People Love Paramore podcast last where she confirmed she’d been “sending texts weekly” to SZA to get started on a track. And, in case you need anymore evidence, when a fan tweeted SZA asking for news on the collab, she responded: “I talk to her more than you’d think lol.”
