Lana Del Rey is having quite the summer. From losing her vape on stage in Rio, getting booted off stage mid-set at Glastonbury, and a triumphant headline show at London’s Hyde Park, the season has certainly had its ups and downs. But now it seems that the US superstar is attempting a return to normality by offering her services to an Alabama branch of Waffle House.

Earlier today, the Twitter user honeymounz posted a short clip of Lana apparently working behind the counter of the restaurant, where she can be heard encouraging someone not to film another diner without permission. “Oh, look at this guy… oh, Charlie, don’t film him,” she says to someone off camera. Not to do anything by halves, the singer is kitted out in the full Waffle House uniform, including a yellow badge with her name on it. She’s so crazzzzzzzy! Love her!!!

As of yet, it’s unclear why Lana decided to join the Waffle workers (we have reached out to reps and are yet to hear anything back). But other people who were also at the diner shared photos of the singer posing with fans, and relaxing at a table with what appear to be her brother and sister.

This new development in Lanalore comes hot on the heels of an appearance at an Alabama nail salon, where resident Jordan Suttles described meeting the star as “the best day of my life”. Is this all a stunt for an upcoming music video? Is it a way of drumming up publicity for another release? Or is she just pivoting to a new career? The latter option is not as weird as it sounds: back in 2021, the singer did say that she was open to other work opportunities that have “nothing” to do with the arts. “I’m very flexible and what I’ve come to understand is that if you follow what you’re interested in, you’ll end up being the most creative in that field,” she said, while accepting Variety’s Artist of the Decade Award. “Sometimes that has taken me super far away from music into other mediums and other job opportunities that have nothing to do with the arts at all.”

The photos of Lana at Waffle House were initially shared by LaShawn D Tuttle, whose Facebook profile says that she also works at the same branch as Lana. “Had so much fun with Lana Del Rey,” she wrote on the social media site. “She is so humble, funny and such a good sport!!” Sounds like she might have passed her trial shift. Good for her!
