Rumours that the rapper had died abounded on social media this morning, with the news seemingly confirmed by TMZ in the last hour. According to TMZ, Takeoff was shot in the early hours of this morning after an “altercation broke out” following a game of dice during a night out with Quavo, fellow Migos member and Takeoff’s uncle. Police were then called to a bowling alley, where Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene. TMZ are also reporting that two other people were shot. Quavo was not injured. Takeoff started rapping in 2008, before going on to release his first mixtape with Migos in 2011. The band quickly rose to prominence after the release of their single Versace, with their debut solo album Yung Rich Nation released in 2015. A year later, the group had their first No 1 single with Bad and Boujee. The song went on to be certified four times platinum and was nominated for a Grammy. In 2017, their second album, Culture, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was also nominated for a Grammy.
