Everyone’s favourite internet troll Lil Nas X has told his “haters” to “suck my fuckn d1ck” after 11 songs from his debut album Montero charted in the Billboard Top 100 all at once, with three even breaking the top 10.
In light of the news, the musician joked on Twitter: “Wow I just became the first one-hit wonder of all time to have 11 songs on Billboard all at once.”
Of the 15 tracks on Montero, 11 are charting, including “Industry Baby” at number two, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” at nine, and “That’s What I Want” at 10. Other tracks in the top 100 include the Doja Cat-featuring song “Scoop”, “Dolla Sign Slime” which features Megan Thee Stallion, “Dead Right Now”, “Tales of Dominica”, the Elton John-featuring “One Of Me”, “Lost In The Citadel”, “Sun Goes Down”, and “Am I Dreaming” featuring Miley Cyrus.
The feat marks Lil Nas’ first ever week with three simultaneous top 10s, bringing his overall total to five, following previous top 10s “Old Town Road” – the longest-running number one in US chart history – and “Panini”.
Lil Nas released his debut album on September 17, following a genius campaign that saw him drag Damien Hirst, recreate Beyoncé’s 2017 pregnancy photo (he was pregnant with his “little bundle of joy” Montero, and, yes, he eventually “gave birth”), and set up satirical billboards in the style of legal ads, which read, ‘Gay? You might be entitled to financial compensation’.
Opening up about what the album means to him, Lil Nas said on Twitter: “I love joking but on a serious note, making this album was therapy for me. I began healing many unchecked wounds, facing skeletons in my closet I never wanted to, fighting internally every day and crying persistently. Montero is truly my baby. Thanks for the love.”
