Between singlehandedly ressurecting the tennis skirt for 2021 and starring in Ridley Scott’s high fashion murder film House of Gucci, Lady Gaga has announced a new album dropping in October – and it’s worlds away from Chromatica.
The new album is titled Love For Sale and will see Gaga team up with legendary New York singer and long-time collaborator Tony Bennett. Featuring “a mix of jazz ensemble, big band, and orchestral arrangements”, the 10-track record will mark Bennett’s final studio recording. According to a press release, Bennett, 95, had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease by the time of the sessions.
Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York, Love For Sale will comprise songs from the Cole Porter songbook of classic popular music, with both duet and solo selections from Gaga and Bennett.
Gaga last teamed up with Bennett on the 2014 duet record Cheek To Cheek. Last night, the pair performed the first of two shows at Radio City Music Hall in what will be the “last NYC performances of (Bennett’s) career”.
“The day we released Cheek To Cheek in 2014, (Bennett) called me and asked me if I wanted to record another album with him, this time celebrating the songs of Cole Porter,” Gaga wrote on Instagram. “I’m always honoured to sing with my friend Tony, so of course I accepted the invitation.”
