Working closely with FaltyDL (who’s credited on every track), plus Hudson Mohawke on “Free Ride” and God Colony on ”Trust A Little Bit”, there’s a joyfulness radiating throughout the New York rapper’s LP which – as the name suggests – was written following a break-up. Nonetheless, Mykki addresses it head on (“This some real break-up shit!” they exclaim on “Fuck Your Choices”). Over breakbeats, Mykki lets off some much-needed steam: “You used all my soy milk?!”, “Had some people over from yoga, you really made smoothies – what the fuck is that?” Mykki’s versatility is such that they can jump between soulful R&B on the Blood Orange-featuring “It’s Not My Choice”, and the Ginuwine-like bounce of “That’s Folks” with Big Freedia. Elsewhere, there’s nosebleed techno from London’s Manni Dee, heavy guitar sounds from Bristol’s SCALPING, and the highly-anticipated debut album from H.E.R.
